NIP received for time car in garage

G/F just received Nip for time car was in garage for crash repairs.

Thing is, person who crashed into her was garage owner's wife so car was fixed on Q/T with insurance and no paperwork.

G/F can prove at work on that day as she had owner's (dodgy) Pug.

Suggested to her to fill out S172 with Garage name and write back saying car in for repairs.

Also, NIP received today (24th) for offence on 6th - 14 day rule!!??!!

Any advice gratefully received

All in the local vicinity or not? I'd double check the photographic evidence in case the car has been cloned.
