Help with first NIP.
Discussion
Hi i have received a notice of intended prosecution through the post this being my first one in 17 years driving i'm not sure what to do to try to get out of it. I have sent for the picture and certificate of calibration for the camera, i was caught by safty camera van. The picture i got was of my car and me but with no speed reading, the time and date of the offence are correct, also the camera calibration sheet says the camera should be checked once every year in this case from march 26 2007 to march 26 2008. Is this correct i would of thought they should be calibrated more often than that and there is nothing to say this sheet is correct for the camera that caught me. Is there anything more i can do or is it bite the bullet time at last! Any help greatly received. Cheers binksy73.
How fast did they say you were going? or not at all? If they havent said I would ask the question so you can gauge what penalty you will be facing,
If you were speeding or not you need to respond to the NIP saying you were driving or you will get an MS90 (not providing driver details) and a fine,
an MS90
s up your insurance premium big time, much more than an SPxx...

Build a time machine, go back - and then don't get caught exceeding the speed limit? So, what exactly is your reason for believing, over and above anyone else, why you shouldn't be brought to justice on this? You've broken the law, it seems - but would like to weasel out of it. Is this any different to a shoplifter, paedophile or murderer asking to be let off? Just think of how many people you might have killed had you crashed whilst exceeding the limit (you've not said by how much?).
If you had a reason, I'd be more sympathetic, but to come crying because you got caught...pathetic.

well there is only ONE offence for which you DO NOT get a criminal record for so YES there is a difference!Edited by RaksP on Wednesday 1st August 10:25
This poor newbie has probably been put off Piston Heads altogether!! But i agree, first post and it's "help, i've been caught and want to GET out of it".
To the OP, perhaps you could explain your reasoning for why you believe that the speed camera was wrong. If you were speeding you should own up to it. However, if you believe that there is a technicality in which you can beat the system, i for one would encourage this, it won't be long before the bastards catch you anyway. In this instance, get yourself over to pepipoo as suggested.

Hey, I know a brilliant way of stopping all these threads overnight. Stop prosecuting people who are driving safely and just happen to be breaking an arbitrary limit which is probably too low.How do we do that? Withdraw police support from the murder partnerships for a start. How would that be made easier? If rank and file officers made their anti-camera feelings clear to their superiors for one thing.
I get fed up with reading the same things as well (and agree with JustinP1 that it's annoying/selfish when we don't hear the outcome), but the best way of nipping it in the bud is to tackle the root cause. The only reason that we get far too many threads like these is that there are far too many speeding NIPs. People like the OP still consider being (possibly) taken to court as a big deal, not realising that speeding cases aren't "real" cases anymore, and are about revenue, politics and social engineering rather than justice or crime.
It's just another symptom of a grave illness.
Ok forgot two mention was in a 30 mph limit which used to be 40 mph just set of from traffic lights rounded a slight bend by the time i saw the van parked of the road in the bushes looked at road angel it said 45mph i hit the brakes went past at 24 mph he poked his head out and smiled at me. By the way road angel was quite as a mouse all the way through. Maybe "get out of it" was not the best phrase to use.
