Top Cop Nicked
Discussion
The Chief Constable of Northern Constabulary Ian Latimer has been caught speeding on the A9.
He has admitted the offence ( clearly Gatsoed) claiming he "miscalculated his speed". An earlier report I read quoted him as saying that the road was clear and conditions were good. Sound familiar?
Really, how much more proof do we need that these yellow boxes are simply revenue earners?
Allegedly he was doing 72 in a 60. But of course we all know that the A9 is another of these "Killer" roads.
If our Chief Consties are getting nicked surely it's time for a rethink.

Mr Brunstrom has recently faced tabloid newspaper attacks pillorying him as possibly the worst policeman in Britain and asking readers to give their views.
Attacks on him were heightened recently when he described a pensioner who had been caught in a camera speed trap as being guilty of "anti-social behaviour" and comparing him with a 17-year-old yob."
Further criticism of his alleged "obsession" with speeding, to the detriment of fighting crime in other areas, came the day after at a meeting of the North Wales Police Authority, in Colwyn Bay.
Mr Brunstrom revealed new figures which showed the worse burglary detection rates yet with only 6% of burglaries solved in April.
He told the authority the figures were no more than a statistical "blip."
In his BBC Wales Today interview, Mr Brunstron made no apologies for his hard line on speeding.
He said: "It is against the law and there is no excuse for drifting over the limit any more than there is for drifting a knife into someone."
Interesting that the burglary stats are a "blip" whilst the speeding ones are "significant". TW@THe added: "They're not going to succeed."

Simply put, it frightens me that people like this are allowed to continue in their roles. Some Welsh Druid said:

if he is comfortable with breaking speeding laws, i wonder what other laws he is comfortable with breaking??He has admitted the offence ( clearly Gatsoed) claiming he "miscalculated his speed". So did he have a speedo calibrated in km/h or some odd kind of speedo that said "your speed is (x-y)/z"? Cooperman said:
So, he's just a human being like the rest of us.
Feel as sorry for him as for anyone else who is driving safely, if very slightly over an artificially low and somewhat absurd speed limit with a spiteful camera or camera van on it.
That's like being sympathetic with the guy in the pub who's had his alloys nicked........but he's a well known ringerFeel as sorry for him as for anyone else who is driving safely, if very slightly over an artificially low and somewhat absurd speed limit with a spiteful camera or camera van on it.

Sorr yo say, but I think this is missing the point slightly. Feel as sorry for him as for anyone else who is driving safely, if very slightly over an artificially low and somewhat absurd speed limit with a spiteful camera or camera van on it.
If the system is catching those who implement it (and, being in his position, I cannot accept that he is not a key figure in implementing it), and is meant to encourage safer driving, there are only two possible conclusions.
1. He is a dangerous driver.
2. The system is flawed and catches safe drivers, possibly suggesting that the system is there for other purposes.
Anyone care to lay their bets?

do speeding tickets lead to a disciplinary for po-po? it should do as it has been proved they have BROKEN THE LAW!
Only if they would also be disciplined for drifting a knife into someone.Do you think they would be?
