I've been watching road wars.....
Discussion
I ignore the american bits of filler and find the UK bits (mostly berks I think, slough reading etc) fascinating.
They dont paint the coppers out to be super heros, nor bumbling plods, it all seems pretty well balanced, the thread on here recently showing one regular "star" of the program having a couple of crashes proves that.
I dont love or loath the police, they do good work on the whole but there are the odd few who can be mighty pedantic if the mood takes them ( much like posters on these forums!
), many stories posted here to "prove" as much.
anyhoo, I watched a couple of "episodes" last night, one where the BiB had to deal with some seriously disturbed individuals, one chap cuffed on the back seat of the police car went a bit loopy when he realised he was screwed for possesing Heroin, the two guys with him on the back seat could hardly hold him down (baldy car crash copper being one of them, who happened to get nutted in the proceedings) and it eventually took 5 (I think) to get him into the cell in one piece. At all time they were forceful with him but seemed genuinely concerned for his safety (pleading with him to calm down etc) cant fake that in "fight or flight" situation.
To cut to the chase I was genuinely very impressed with the way a genuniely scarey situation was handled, I couldnt have blamed them for pepper spraying him and giving him a good kicking (but I guess thats why they wear blue and I dont!)
I tip my hat to the officers involved and to all the other that deal with crap like this on a daily basis.
p.s how about letting me off that speeding fine officer? nudge nudge, wink wink.

It`s a job, when you think about it...isn`t something you would want to deal with every day...breaking up fights in the worst parts of town .....sorting out horrific accidents...a tough job....I just would like to see more of them about....I`ve seen 2 or 3 nasty fights in the town on a Sat afternoon in front of shocked women & children...CCTV is no real protection if someone is kicked to unconciousness in town by groups of drunken scum....in full view of everyone...& they simply leave...I`d swap camera`s in town for a team of bobby`s actually there wandering about....the visual presence would discourage this imo..as the yobs fancy their chances at playing hide & seek with the CCTV...

you make a good point re cctv, my son was beaten up in a city center in full view of cctv. Could they prcesute them? No as they were wearing hats FFS.It's a good program (it's local to me, so we play "recognise the street" ).
The thing that winds me up though is the lame punishments given to the UK offenders.
You see the US guys being charged with everything they can think of and getting 15 years. The UK guys get a £20 fine.

That's why I don't watch these things.. They show the car driving around, the driver is drunk, stoned, avoids the police, charges into 3-4 parked cars, assaults the PC when being arrested, gets charged with speeding and gets a fine or something.... Pathetic. The thing that winds me up though is the lame punishments given to the UK offenders.

Dog the bounty Hunter, ROFL, bunch of steroid and burger fuelled big fellas (and a lesbian IIRC) all tooled up with body armour, whacking sticks, "cop" badges, etc. Kicking in doors to arrest some 17 year old bail dodger or obese women.seriously tough bastards.
