As a former musician I have lost count of the number of venues I have attended over the years; but as far as utter and absolute chaos is concerned, nothing comes close to the Runrig event at Drumnadrochit last Saturday night.
On entering the town from either direction the whole area was coned off and heavily policed and one was left with only two alternatives; either drive on through the town or turn into one of several "car parks" organised by a clearly highly profit driven organisation from Hampshire of all places. Is there nobody in the whole of Scotland capable of organising a car park?
Only when you are in the park and have several vehicles behind you are you told that there is a charge of SIX POUNDS!!!!
Remember this is a muddy field owned by a local farm with no services whatever, no tariff board, and NO warning that you are going to be fleeced for money.
It rained the whole day and into the evening and only stopped when the band played their last number.
I have honestly never witnessed anything like the conditions in these parks; it being much worse than many of the off road circuits I have seen.
There were vehicles stuck everywhere, sliding into one another and being abandoned.
The staff had all disappeared and we were left to our own devices, literally thousands of people and vehicles abandoned.
With the help of some willing lads the cars were slowly cleared but some had to be left, and I have not found out what happened yet to these: Our party finally got back down to Oban at 4AM.
If any of you were there mail me and I will give you all the information I have so far with a view to seeking compensation. A joint complaint would carry far more weight.
I absolutely refuse to accept this kind of disgraceful rip off where huge sums of money are made in one night at the gross misfortune of others.
