whats the process if you have either green / pink license

and you attend court and points are awarded ?

do they add the points on the spot and inform DVLA

or does your license get send away....
if so , i presume they will not send it back and you will then have to apply for a ID style ??

I have a pink paper licence and have also recently been awarded 6 stars for my excellent driving ability wink the court retained my licence and sent it back to me approx 2 weeks later with the points written on in biro,I also received a letter from DVLA stating they had been informed by the court of the points and for me to send them my licence to be endorsed as apparently I never had it when i appeared in court! the letter also stated if I did not send off my licence they would automatically revoke my right to drive! A quick phone call to tell them to "get your facts right!" soon solved the mishap

As far as I am aware when appearing at Court for an offence involving an endorsement (points) they will ask for the paper Driving Licence or plastic and counterpart to be produced on finding Guilty. If not produced Court has power to revoke the Licence until such time as it is.

The Mags Clerk will endorse the paper Licence or counterpart with the details of the conviction offence code, date, points awarded, and number identification of Court involved. Licence then returned direct of holder. At the same time Mags Clerk will communicate the details to DVLA so that the master record is updated.

The only time DL will be retained and forwarded to DVLA is where a lengthy disqualification has been imposed. On short periods Magd Clerks retain and return direct.

I had my pink one endorsed several years ago at court by hand and sent back to me.

I've just had a fixed penalty, sent my licence off and just had a letter sent back saying that I need to apply for the new style photo licence. They have also included the form to fill in. So, until I fill in the forms with the relevant ID checks I have no licence!

Last june my 3 points from a scamera van were added by biro. I dont think this has changed, its still a valid licence. Send it back to them again and point out its a valid licence and can they add the endorsement please.
