Frankly I think that when it's peeing down is the time when they should be switched on, as excessive speed in the wet can be more dangerous than in dry conditions.

Go on the referral course.

The one I was on was a waste of time to stop people speeding but did teach you to notice speed cameras as they indicate a road hazard!

If you've been offered the course, I'd take it if I were you.

Unless it is raining of course...

Take the course.

I was offered a course and told them to stick it up their arses. If I'd known the difference 3 points would make to my insurance premium I'd have bitten their arm off for the course.

I would be suprised if it increases your premium at all if you have a good driving record. At the very most it will be a 10% increase, try a few companies.
I would have taken the course if it had been offered, but if money is an issue the cheaper option will be to take the points.
I personally think the whole thing is outragous for such a minimal speed, your very unlucky for it to even go off at that speed. Get yourself a gps speed camera detector, they are very good.

If the rain is really heavy you should aim to go at such a speed so the spray you make means your number plate cannot be seen on the photo......
