If the BIB stopped a oldish 4X4 and searched it and found the following what would their reaction be?

Roll of Gaffer tape.
Cable ties.
Stanley knife.
Disposable latex gloves.
7" Sheath Knife.
Disposable shoe covers.
Plastic sheeting.
Disposable hooded boiler suit.
Rubble sacks.
Hand Axe.
Wellington boots.
Machete.
Spare change of clothes.

Well, if you put it like that it seems suspicious of course.

Why?

Nick the gaffer tape. You never know when you'll need just a bit more.

I expect them to arrest them as the road tax might have expired smile

A mate of mine had his vehicle searched last night. That was roughly the contents of his boot. The police were so suspicous of the circumstances that he was taken to a police staion for further questioning. He was parked up in layby on a very rural road at 2 in the morning.

To be honest, I would be highly suspicious of anyone who was parked up in a layby at 2am with all of that stuff in his boot!

Luckily for him no. Just had an email giving the full story. Apparently the police were so suspicous because they have had a tip off about dog fights being organized in the area. The actual reason for having all the kit in the car is that he had been off roading / green laneing which took awhile for the police to confirm.

In my totally non-expert opinion without a sensible explanation (like requiring those things for his profession) it would look dam suspicious.

He was green laning? At 2 am? With an axe and rubble sacks in the back? In a layby?

Perfectly normal.

No he was having a kip because he was knackerd after green laning wink . Axe is for chopping back branches. Rubble sacks are for muddy boots/clothes. All perfectly innocent but it does look dammned suspicous biggrin

Where the f**k was he green laning?! I've been a bit before and never needed that kind of kit - you could drive a straight line through the forests of Borneo with that!

The Lincolnshire Fens. Better to be fully prepared than to be stuck.

but there is a statutory defence of reasonable excuse depending on why you were carrying it, eg if you needed it for work or fishing, or in this case green laning... apparently laugh

For when the car breaks down. Nothing so miserable at 2am being covered in oil, mud, blood and sheep shite with a 100 mile journey home.
