What's the latest on getting flashed by static speed cameras in France? Clearly a camera can't arrest you, as far as I know they can't do anything with your UK licence, but will they send through fines etc to UK drivers?

Foreign vehicles activating their cameras, because as yet they cannot extend their fine to UK, vehicles details are entered on their National Register.

If on another visit and checked all sins will be disclosed and dealt with. Unpaid fines result in vehicle seizure.
Likewise over 25kph of limit Police can seize DL, over 50 kph they can take the vehicle.

That's an interesting idea.

Surely, even in France, the driver is liable rather than the vehicle.

Or is their legal system just as ed up as ours?

Just tell them Jeremy Clarkson was driving.

French cameras have very good signage that they are there. If you see the sign, which unless you are asleep you cannot miss then they ARE there. They are also in places where they appear to be required e.g. to slow vehicles approaching cross roads with poor safety records. Compared to the UK they arte very fairly placed andon a recent 2000 mile tour of France i propably only saw about half a dozen of them.

I drove from Calais to Spain and back a couple of weeks ago and saw very few cameras. There were a few signs warning of them but rarely did a camera accompany it.

I was flashed twice on the drive from Calais to the Dordogne, strange thing is I was towing a caravan , and was well within the posted limit
