Legally, they can only do it if using stop/go boards or temporary traffic signals complying with Traffic Signs Regulations and General Direction - otherwise it's police or traffic wardens as stated earlier

Not legally I don't think but who's going to ignore a signal from a paramedic or fireman in an emergency?

Police officers, PCSO's, Highways Agency Traffic Officers (mostly on the motorways). HATO's and PCSO's do not have any powers to arrest but it is an offence to ignore a lawful request by HATO and PCSO, registration numbers are taken and prosecutions have been successfully made

OK, what`s the legality of the braindead twonks at the Dartford crossing. AFAIK they are neither BiB nor HATO, yet they have blue lights on their vehicles and seem to enjoy speaking to people with a condescending attitude.

Bullied at school. I beleive that these people are here to carry out revenge for putting them in supermarket trolleys and rollingthem down subway ramps.

I really , really upset one a couple of weeks ago.

The dart tag thing in my truck didn`t work which was pretty frustrating for me and the queue behind me.
Very nice girl in the booth called her supervisor. So he came over and started bashing my box against a metal post (fill yer boots guys! wink )

So I said "that`s not going to do it a lot of good is it?"
He thn pointed to the left and said "pull up over there"
Me - "Pardon"
Him - "pull up over there"
Me - "Pardon"
Him - "pull up over there"

repeat about 5 times

finally he cracked and said "are you deaf?"
Me - "No, just waiting for the magic word"
Little man went very very red and said please.

It sort of escalated a bit from there but I wont bore you with the details.

No. It`s embarrasing. I completely lost the plot with the wankstain masquerading as a human being. Perhaps I should have referred to him as "catwank" and kept the whole thing much lighter.

Next time, tell him he's constipated.

No my best line was "You know you`re not a copper, I know you`re not a copper, but to speed things along I`ll think of you as a if it makes you feel better"
