Person does a U turn in a wide road, motocyclist comes up at speed, hits back of car, spinning it round 120-180 degrees.

Biker dies.

Who is in the wrong.

Hypothetically speaking all of this.

30.
Wiiiiiiiiide (can get 4 cars across, its a main thouroughfare thru town) residential street, at non-busy time.
BiB can't judge speed of biker.

BiB can't judge speed of biker, but was he doing 30 in a 30 or not ?
Are there any other circumstances that are important such as bike overtaking at time etc etc ?

No BiB don't know how quick he was going.
Nope, open road.

But for arguments sake, how quick was he actually doing (not just what the BiB can say).

What would also have influence is how far away the bike was when the car started it's turn.

To spin a car 180 degrees the bike must have imparted a fair amount of energy to it.Couldn't Plod work the accident dynamics out from that?

Yeah also how far as the car travelled in a straight line? if he has been in a straight line for say 20meters then i would say that's sufficiant for stopping time of the bike.

It's like turning a corner and then someone crashing into the back of you, if it happened when you were turning then your fault but im sure if it happened 50meters after then that would be therefault for not paying attention as the general rule is it's always the person behinds fault.

I have always wonderd if a car doesnt hit the side of you then surley it's therefault as they hit the back of you therefore you had turned and they didnt stop in time just as if you had broke at that point.

Generally tho if i see somone and im close i will accelorate as fast as poss to kind of compensate for comming out late or *close* (not often i am close but some people get very twitchy)

As Von says, if the car is only at say 10/20 degrees, then the biker didn't stand much chance, if the car was already at 90 or beyond then he must have been going too fast not to be able to swerve round it.

if this is the accident in colchester today (or yesterday, im not sure) other reports ive seen of it say the rider put his head through the drivers window due to the crash & the glass cut his throat. so i guess the speed of the bike doesnt make a lot of difference here, you can go over the bars at 5mph if you hit somthing right (wrong?).
