I just wondered whether these guys deserve a George Medal or Queen's Gallentry Medal, for their actions?

They also get my vote.. but I think Granny in corner shoppe went one better. I think I saw the story in either the Waily or the Sexpress yesterday..
But it seem that corner shoppe owner in late 50s had hoody yob in her shop. He wielded a nine inch blade at her und demanded her takings. She picked up a knife she had been using to cut string for something or other.. und said in Crocodile Dundee style...
orf by now irate
"Granny". He turned und ran ...
He not been caught but police reported kind things about the olde shoppe owner.
I think more of us need to stand up for ourselves.

I was at work last weekend, and was part of the team investigating a serious house fire (two walking wounded, two still critical).
Most of the neighbours came out in the early hours to help the people from the house, and one guy was instrumental in saving at least two of them.
He's a thoroughly nice bloke with wife and two chidlren, but still put himself in harm's way to try and help others out. He's only been living in rented accommodation a few doors down for a few weeks while his house is renovated, and didn't know the victims from Adam, yet still got stuck in.
I've stuck a report in (FWIW) to the BCU Commander, recommending that the neighbours should all get thanked for their help, but in particular the guy I mentioned here.
It made a pleasant change to deal with decent human beings for a change, and slightly restored my faith in human nature (temporarily at least - SNAFU Monday!).

Good job she didn't sell him the knife, she'd have committed an offence if he was under 18 - StreakyBut it seem that corner shoppe owner in late 50s had hoody yob in her shop.
