Thumbs up to Staffordshire police
Discussion
Saturday morning I woke up to hearing my fence panels being kicked in. This seems to occur from time to time as my house is at the beginning of a street that adjoins a fairly busy thoroughfare from town to a nearby council estate. I looked out of the window to see the culprit, early to mid teens and wearing a blue hooded tracksuit top running up the ramp leading to the footbridge that crosses the main road parallel to the thoroughfare.
I looked out of my front upstairs window from where I can see my taxi parked outside. I noticed that the rooflight displaying the word "Taxi" was also missing...
I called the police expecting to be told that there was nothing they could or would do unless I took the law into my own hands and then they would come - to arrest me.
What actually happened was the woman on the end of the phone took all the details and my mobile phone number. Within a couple of hours a forensics guy called me and then appeared and took finger prints from the roof of my car. An hour or so after that a community beat officer came around and said he'd keep an eye open in passing on his beat. He also advised me to have a digital camera at the ready to take pics of any further instances of antisocial behaviour outside of my property. He also said that even if the images could not be used as evidence they could still form the basis of going to "feel someone's collar."
OK, they haven't caught the little bastard(s) and strung 'em up but I'm actually quite pleased with their response.
New fence panels have been ordered making identification of panel kickers easier - they will be walking with a limp after kicking these babies!
