NIP received 49 days after offence...

I've got a NIP for 40 in a 30, photo evidence from camera, taken on 29 August. NIP's dated 16 Oct, posted on 16 Oct - photo date's 29 August.

I have a company car, from a lease company via my employer, so obviously they've had to find out who it 'belongs' to, but I feel the time's rather excessive. Is there any way out?

Not excessive at all if they've had to go to other registered keeper etc first.
