Mrs L got busted for speeding (about time too) and sent her licence off for amendment. She waited about 4 weeks and got nothing back so she called the police to ask where it was. They said it had been sent and she should have already have it, just wait 15 days and buy a new one from the DVLA, which she did. It arrived today free of points. Is it valid?

Agreed - the points should be on the DVLA computer. This clearly is a mistake by the DVLA by issuing a clean (blank) licence.

Following 'the bust' then for the straight forward single offence of speeding, just fine no disqualification, her Driving Licence would be forwarded to Magistrates Court Office, where the necesssary points are entered on the Licence. Licence then returned back to holder by MCO. DVLA notified by MCO of points so that they can be entered on the 'master' driver record.

Looks like the DL has gone astray at the MCO and who it seems have not informed DVLA of points awarded ??????

Two choices

(1) Let sleeping dogs lie, or

(2) Contact MCO amnd get matters put to right so that in future
holder is absolutely fireproof.

More worryingly who is now masquerading as your wife with the 'missing' licence.
Better watch you don't end up getting even more points or loans out in her name...

If your wife has got the photo type license she should have recieved the paper counterpart which lists the endorsements, and they are on computer so any check by the authorities will rveal them.

You could of course wait a few months and then obtain a new licence claiming to have lost the old one (I think there's a fee). See if the new licence has the points on it. If the new licence doesn't show the points then chances are there has been admin error somewhere along the line.

Its not just the driving licence.
You could use the driving licence to get a duplicate birth certificate and then from that something else etc until you can open an account and bingo!
Its how the real fraudsters do it. Her signature is on it too remember.

Identity theft can really screw your credit rating, which can cause inumerable problems with employment, house purchase etc. Getting it fixed is not a simple process.

yeah its really annoying. I wouldn't worry too much as it may just be lost in the post but certainly DVLA employees have been prosecuted in the past for syphoning off licences.

on a less major note someone stole my ebay identity last week.
Fortunately only for spamming.

I can get a name and address from the phone book and get a duplicate birth certificate for that person. How is losing a DL worse...? What would be on the DL that would make this process easier? Serious question.
