Points and their age
Discussion
Today I am insuring a new motor however my other half has just informed me that she has 3 points from driving in a bus lane. The offense was committed in June 2004 and I am not sure how long points are:
A) Active on the license
B) Visible on the license
After a couple of conversation with friends some say that the points are on the license for 4 years but only count for 3 years!
If someone could shed some light on this is would be greatly appreciated.

That is correct, the points count towards "totting up" for 3 years, and can be removed from the licence after 4 years (if you give the DVLA some money). As mentioned, most insurers want to know about any endorsements for up to 5 years.Forums | Speed, Plod & the Law | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
