Jury Service, what to expect?
Discussion
of the draw, I did two weeks last April, sat on two trials, both lasting three days, was sent home for three days in between. Hung around a lot on first day, suggest take books or laptop if want to get on with some work (although Judge does tend to look down on you tapping away and surfing the net whilst the trials you sit on are being heard....)
I done 2 weeks Jury service a few years ago, one was a Dangerous driving, one a rape, and the third a drug smuggling.
Dangerous driving we got the guy off as the charge was quite unfair- the joy in his face on this news was amazing, never seen anyone so relieved, brought a tear to my eye.
Rape was called off as the victim accused him of doing it to someone else in front of jury- and we are not supposed to know previous offences as it sways things.
Smuggling- he was GUILTY!!
Saw a nice mix of it, enjoyed it thoroughly and would jump at the chance again.

You claim back your expenses, so you will not be out of pocket.
Expect, lots of waiting around...
Only if my employer is kind enough to pay me while I'm there, I currently earn a little more than 68 quid/day!Expect, lots of waiting around...

At the time I was on pennies, so I actually gained on my expenses by about £300

I'd be a little cautious of discussing on-line or anywhere what has gone on in the jury roomDangerous driving we got the guy off as the charge was quite unfair- the joy in his face on this news was amazing, never seen anyone so relieved, brought a tear to my eye.
