they have messed me about had me running about like a mad man and im pissed off and dont want the car anymore

the car has been serviced, mot'd and valeted ready for me i just cant drive it until i take the proof which i cant get hold of for at least another week and im paying a fortune on the insurance

if you paid deposit with a credit card then probably yes, otherwise probably not.

No, that was the test drive.

What actually happened is he's realised it's the PD engine and not the CommonRail and doesn't want it now.

They have your deposit, and they have your signature on the finance docs. You're out of luck as far as I can tell unless you can provide some valid reason why the car isn't suitable. Even then it'll be difficult to back out of the deal.

How have they messed you about?

What else have they done, other than ask you for some more proof of ID? From your OP, i get the impression there are other things they have done you're not happy with?
the garage told me over the phone that so much documentation was fine to bring, i drove there (20 miles) to be told its not, so i went in again with the extra they had asked for they said its fine but i cant pick the car up today because they cant tax the car on the weekend (they had not told me this after i farted about getting the insurance for them so they could tax it), then they said it will all be sorted for monday (today) and ive been rang again saying i need more id,

they should know what they need

he has offered me compensation by filling up the car with half a tank of fuel and said he would pick the document up himself from where i work

Course, people reading your recent threads might be given to think you've realised you've bought the wrong model of car and are now trying to find a way to back out of the deal. Not me though, no sirree Bob.

Should have asked for a set of decent tyres!

What ID do you need, Surely if you take a recent Utility Bill, Bank Statment, Passport, Photocard Driving License then you will be fine!

No, you can't back out, you have signed and paid the deposit.

I had to wait 3 weeks for my car to come from the factory, then drive to the head office of my insurance company to get the certificate because it never arrived in the post, then my old car ran out of fuel on the way home from collecting it!

the cars already going for a grand less than the parkers guide haha, i live with parents and have already provided driving license and passport to them they need more proof, i think because im younger?

the garage told me i can back out and get my deposit back because its a family run business and they dont hold anyone to anything if they dont want to

It is not the dealer who needs the ID docs, it is the finance house.

What docs are required varies from one proposal to another, is it something like your driving licence being in your old address and them needing more ID?

They don't sound to have messed you about, more like a case of buyers remorse and you trying to wriggle out of the deal to me.

If its on finance you have the 14 day cooling off period. Pretty sure they are obliged to take the car back at no cost to you if you change your mind within this period.

It's not the garage that wants the extra ID it's the finance company. Given you age, I'm not surprised.
