Got a NIP in the post - question
Discussion
As the thread title, was doing 82 in a 70 on that 4-lane stretch of the A1(M) southbound near Alconbury & caught by a mobile camera on the bridge.
No complaints, guilty as charged.
Offence was 25th Feb, NIP dated 4th March, received 7th March.
Evening of 7th, I logged into the Beds/Cams/Herts police BCH "starportal" website as advised.
Entered the Reference No, passcode and vehicle reg & was put through to the declaration form which I filled in and submitted.
Concern is that I haven't had any email confirmation from BCH that I submitted the declaration.
Tried to log in again yesterday to see if there was a record on their site but it said I was providing incorrect details even though they were identical to the three items I originally entered above.
Was wondering if anyone had experienced similar with BCH?
Will try calling them tomorrow but if I don't get through, I might fill in the form in pen and submit that also just in case.
I don't mind points and/or a fine, but don't want it to escalate by being accused of ignoring the request to provide details
No complaints, guilty as charged.

Not sure, but if you end up attending a speed awareness course then consider attending a classroom based course as my internet dropped when I did my online course and the guy booted me off the course saying I won’t get another chance and will have to take the points instead. I did manage to convince him to let me back on but it was a nerve wracking experience fearing my internet might drop again.

I stress that I don't KNOW this to be the case but have had similar with other systems. No complaints, guilty as charged.

Because you entered the correct details and completed what you needed to do the system no longer needs to fulfil that function & so that combination of details is no longer valid for data entry.
Please feel free to confirm for your peace of mind but I am pretty sure this is what you will be told.
Several years ago I had a SAC offer after being caught. I applied to do the course. Got refused as "over the time limit to apply" or similar. I phoned to query as this was pretty soon ( almost immediately) after receiving the NIP and proceeding with the SAC offer. The person I spoke to checked the details. They had the wrong date of the offence that was months earlier instead of the correct one. They corrected it and the SAC attended. Human error when inputting the data? I would like to think the system would throw up a warning to check what was being typed in as a verification. Not a difficult thing to put into the software.
I had similar data errors when selling a house. Buyer searches queried certificates for Building Regs work. The Building Regs people had put the wrong address in. Again this was corrected.
Lack of quality checks in the software usually through gaps at the design stage, or software writers not knowing about good practise.

This is very confusing. Is the OP likely to be using your internet for an online SAC? Or perhaps it's relevant to the OP in some other way?OzzyR1 said:

Experiences like this is exactly why I always do a webpage print to PDF for any transaction, especially when someone I've not transacted with before. So much easier a couple times a year to delete those PDFs than either have the stress or aggro not being sure.Tried to log in again yesterday to see if there was a record on their site but it said I was providing incorrect details even though they were identical to the three items I originally entered above.

Hopefully this could help you in the future if you have any issues and good luck with the course!

This is very confusing. Is the OP likely to be using your internet for an online SAC? Or perhaps it's relevant to the OP in some other way?It is a valid point for anyone attending an online sac with less than reliable Internet.
When I attended mine, the guy had real difficulty checking my id because of light reflecting off my passport lamination.
He was making noises like if he couldn't confirm it I would lose the place and have points.
Do I expect other ph-ers to sit in my study to do their sac? Of course not, but it emphasises how things that are ordinarily inconsequential can have a bigger impact on these courses.

Cheers to all who have replied.
Have checked Junk/Spam folders and nothing there - think I will try calling tomorrow to check.
I was caught a couple of years ago for 60 in a variable speed limit section on the M25 set at 50 - did an online SAC then so don't think there will be any alternative offered to 3 points & a fine.
There have been occasions previous where I have "enjoyed" driving cars / riding bikes in many parts of the UK, predominantly summer weekends at 5 or 6am on clear, dry roads before most people have got up.
Drive as sensibly as possible nowadays - the above and that in the OP are the only two speeding offences I've had in 34 years, neither of which were hugely over the limit and/or the theoretical "10% + 2" .
Visiting several sites in & around London for work at the moment.
So many 20mph limits and my dash speedo doesn't move off the stop until 5-8mph.
When my independent GPS shows 20mph the needle fluctuates 1-2mm either way (c.5mph) and is hard to read - find I'm spending more time checking the dashboard rather than paying 100% attention to the road ahead.
Driving in and around London is an appalling experience nowadays:
Could be a 20 limit in which you get prosecuted for doing 25 rather than 24 - undiscernable on most dashboards.
Or caught in a lane which changes to buses/taxis only at a certain time but not clearly signed.
Or being prosecuted as the rear 30cm of your car is overhanging a yellow box junction when the person ahead that you followed has left 5m between them and the car in front for no apparent reason.
Pretty hateful experience all round.
