Two Possible Unrelated Duff Fines/Notices

I saw my youngest son on Monday last week and he said "hey, dad look at this" and showed me a letter he's just received from Nottiingham police with a speeding ticket for doing 38mph in a 30mph zone in Nottingham city centre at 4.30am 10 days before. He's never been to Nottingham and at the time and date was asleep in bed at home in Herefordshire.

I saw my middle son son on Monday this week and he said "hey, dad look at this" and showed me a letter he's just received from Croydon Council with a bus lane fine, but he's not been to Croydon and at the time of the offence was was in his office near Bristol.

Obviously they are both writing to deny all knowledge of these offences but its odd its happened at more or less the same time. Is this just a co-incidence or could there be something else going on? I'm seeing my eldest son at the weekend and and I'm hoping he's not going to say "Hey, dad.........!"

Is his car reg in the photos for the fines? Or has someone who knows your son nominated his as the driver at the time of the offence?
