Hi All,

I have just received a letter via the post "Notice of Intended Prosecution"

38mph in a 30 zone.

It was on hill and my speed crept up a little! A little more than I thought!

What will happen?

For 38 in a 30 limit you'll probably get offered a "speed awareness course" instead of licence points.

Moved to the correct forum initially.

Then either offer of a speed awareness course or likely 3pts and a fine appears to most usual outcome (although there could be others).

Its one year in prison for every mph over the limit you were, so 8 years in prison.

Yes, but about the discretionary transportation for life option?

Hahahahahah.

So speed awareness course or 3 points and a fine then.

1. You will fill the form in to identify the driver and send it back.
2. You will then receive another letter confirming the offence and offering either a) a Speed Awareness Course or, b) a Fixed Penalty of 3 Points/£100 fine. Speed Awareness course may be offered if the Police Authority of that area participates in the scheme AND you haven't done a course in the preceding 3 years. It is discretionary.
3. If you already have 9 or more points, you will receive a more serious letter for consideration of a higher penalty or ban.

Maybe a speed awareness course as I think it's up to 42mph in a 30 zone.

There is a very good barrister on here (Agtlaw) who saved my step-son from an almost certain ban. But I don't think you're far enough over the limit to need his help.

Luckily for the OP, the prisons are full so the option now is £40k to leave the country to warmer climes and return once you've spent up.

Of course, if you are Hubnut, you don't worry about being caught speeding, because even 5 years of a Perodua Nippa would be pure pleasure!

Brutal... Surely that's against human rights conventions?
