Which bit of the A46, just out of interest? Around Leicester perhaps - bearing in mind the A46 goes from somewhere near Newark-on-Trent to somewhere in the SW of England beyond Stroud.

I wouldn't class Grimsby as being 'somewhere near Newark' smile

Use Waze? Saved me a few times, when “pushing on”… whistle

Spotted scameras all over the place during summer months, including this week in Leeds. Sneaky fkers.

Is the right answer.

I am guessing that bit of the A46 was removed by the T' North filter. wink

Near cotgrave on Sunday - saw them late knew I would be getting something through the post frown

Sunny day, empty dual carriageway. Not a cash making exercise at all

It's quite deflating.

I'm expecting something in the post any moment now. I'd just spent an hour on the M6, dealing with poor driving from folk who have no lane discipline and just turn zombie doing 70mph in "the fast lane minus one". I came off the M6 onto a dual carriageway, perfectly straight, engaged the throttle a little bit too much then spotted the van. <sigh>

As I often drive on the Southern end of the A46, I checked it out on Sabre:
"The A46 was first classified in 1922 and ran from Bath to Grimsby".

£100 for 1mph. But apparently we live in a free country so we have to suck it up.

It could at least be graduated, eg £2 per mph. Bah.

So for most normal people, it would be obvious that in ideal conditions like this, a bit more speed can still be carried safely by a confident driver.

Whereas 79 in the pouring rain weaving in and out of traffic would be far less safe.

Of course, speeding is always illegal, even if not always unsafe.

Hopefully you're just being argumentative, and there is nothing genuinely in the above you couldn't have worked out yourself.

To the op, I was also caught at 79, it is just one of those things and when I balance it agaisnt all the speeding i have got away with, I can't really complain.

The speed awareness course was an eye opener both in the mistakes the course leader made, and how poor road knowledge is across a sample of speeding drivers.

It's actually £100 for 9 mph, so only £11 per mph
That makes it seem much better value for money!

Excess speed is the main cause of accidents, injuries and deaths on our roads. Slow down.

No, it's a genuine question.

"Sunny day, empty dual carriageway." — you seem to be using that as some form of mitigation.

No one (yourself included) has suggested that you were not driving safely. And the notice you have received is not suggesting that you were not driving safely.

It is stating, quite simply, that you were driving over the speed limit. Which you were aware of at the time. So you chose to drive over the speed limit, and you've been caught. Weather conditions had nothing to do with it.

Something that many drivers (including myself) do every day.
