Pietro Lunardi WE LOVE YOU!!!
Please come to england, we need your leadership and common sense!
What a STAR this guy is!
Raising speeds where its safe to do so is the right thing...ya gotta love this guy.
Faster drivers are safer.....youre on my wavelength mate, and i reckon most others too!
Contrast Mr Lunardis vision, of improved traffic flows due to higher limits to our shit-pathetic governments own vision....a land where speed cameras wait in silence to catch the unwary traveller at just 1 mph over an artificially low limit, where talivans stalk our safest roads in the pursuit of a quick buck, where police are forced to enforce a law that makes them hated by those they enforce against,...a land where motorists are persecuted and hounded and punished mercilessly for the greed of a few politicians.
Go ahead Bliar, introduce your pathetic speed scameras, put them on EVERY SINGLE STREET, raise the fines to unheard of levels, ban motorists for travelling 1 mph over your odious "limits", confiscate their vehicles for speeding, dog them til the cash registers are bursting, ......then wait for the inevitable fireball that erupts in society....you will rue the day you declared war on the people of britain you bastard.
Saddam is a maniac and needs taking out...Bliar is a maniac and needs taking out....whos first?

However, in my experience of driving on the Autostrada, there's plenty of people driving at significantly more than 93mph as a matter of course already...
Exactly - that is the point. The same thing is happening here - according to the abd:
The measure of speed generally used when setting speed limits is the 85th percentile speed. This is the speed at or below which 85% of vehicles travel. On motorways in the UK, the 85th percentile speed for cars is approximately 85 mph, i.e. 15 mph above the current limit. An increase in the speed limit to 80 mph would be expected to lead to a rise in the 85th percentile speed of around 2.5 mph, to 87.5 mph. This would mean a greatly reduced percentage of drivers exceeding the speed limit and the majority would be below the Association of Chief Police Officers' guideline level for prosecution. Removal of the speed limit altogether would be expected to lead to an increase in the 85th percentile speed to no more than 95 mph (10 mph more than today), which is the current level on those autobahns in Germany that are unrestricted.
