Recieved a phone call over the weekend, apparantly i have commited a "serious" motoring offence and they wanna check my address to forward the notice of prosecution. Dunno how fast etc but is this just legal jargon to s**t me up!! It was a mobile camera unit in the Leighton Buzzard / Milton keynes area if any one else has had any bother on the 22nd of feb. Would also be great if anyone could advise on contesting the offence, i.e claim it wasn`t me and i don`t know who else it could be!!
Thanks in advance for any advice

Doesn't the NIP just go to the registered keeper?Don't think the scamera teams phone everyone up to check addresses.Sounds a bit strange...unless anyone knows different of course....

This sounds like a wind-up to me. How would they be able to phone you if they did not have your correct address? AFAIK the NIP would be the first contact you would have, never a phone call.

Dont answer this bollox, it sounds like a scam of some sort.
If theres a "serious offence" been commited, the cops will be round your house to have a word, otherwise i supect this is a scam to get you to send some money to someone.
If in doubt call the police or go in and have a word with them, but dont give any details over the phone, it could be anybody.

I was about to suggest it may be a scam to confirm the location of your motor and to knick it.....until I read your profile.

Must say it does sound like a bit of a gag, but having said that they do do some odd things now days, I got a phone call not so long ago from from PC someone or other saying they wanted to talk to me and could I call him on a mobile number, I was a bit skeptical even more so when the scruffy sod turned up in a battered fiesta but it was genuine.

Are you having an affair or dodging anything financial? Could anybody want to trace you and obtain your identity? Don't answer but it could also be Private Dicks matching an address to your telephone number. If it's official or the Bill they will write or call in person. Even if they give you a call back tel number which gets answered it doesn't mean it's genuine. Your not obliged to help the police.

Don't take offence mate, look on my profile.

My first car was a VW Polo A reg, bought for 150 squids every panel dented or scratched, 130,000 miles before everything fell to bits.

Luvverly

edited to say it's not on my profile as it happens.
