Could not belive my eyes when I saw Oxfordshire's Talivan parked outside the school in Chipping Norton, this morning. I have no problem with this as such, despite the fact it is the same van that I think got me on another part of the road last week.
However it was operating about 30-40m from where the limit changes from 40mph to 30mph. Are there not regulations stating it has to operate a certain distance from a speed limit change ?

Nope...only "guidelines" that they conveniently tend to disregard....

Here's what to do.
Pay some schoolkids a fiver each to let down a tyre

On second thoughts its probably not a good idea to stand outside a school and be seen to give little kids cash. Might look a bit sus.

Alternativley get some nails and wedge them under the tyres so that when the scamera van pulls away it earns itself 4 flat tyres.
That will more than make up for the 60 quid you had to give them last week.

Wasn't gro's point that this was actually (mostly) a reasonable place to have a speed detection van? Persuading people that slowing down outside areas where kids could run out at any moment isn't a bad thing, I think.

Its when they're at the only safe overtaking spot for twenty miles so I can't get past the bugger insisting on doing 52mph that they get my goat.

No doubt parked on the pavement forcing the ickle children out on to the road...only to be run down by mothers coming to pick up their precious bundles, and being distracted by the Talivan and having to slam the brakes on their 4x4's doing 60 mph in said 30 zone as a result of not wanting to miss out on the best parking spots ie on the pavement in front of the school forcing everyone onto the road, so that said precious doesn't have to walk too far and risk loosing any weight or be in danger from irresponsible drivers going past at 60 mph to pick up their brat kids.

I did laugh however when some mother dropping off her precious darlings at school, attepmpted to park her X5 directly behind said van obscurring his view of the road...

When you said 'attempted' what happened ? Surely the Talivan cannot insist on no-one parking near them can they. Particularly if they are operated by civilian low-life.

"attempted" was more a reference to the standard of her parking manoeuvre. Unfortuantely could not hang around long enough to see the result..
