Anyone had this happen to their corvette? The red paint on the lettering on the top of my C7 engine block has half flaked off.
I would like to restore it; wondering if a standard red engine enamel would be a-ok for this?

This also happened to mine.
I removed all the old paint with nail varnish remover, then cleaned it up and very, very lightly sanded it. Then I used red standard touch up paint I had from my Kia car. Took a few coats to build up, but looks great again, now.
I've heard of people using red nail varnish, too, so I guess red enamel paint would be fine.
Good luck with it - it's quite a rewarding job when it's done.

This is common on the C7 to the extent that
In the early days, the covers were changed under warranty.

The best solution is also the easiest and that is to clean off the paint with a paint thinning solvent. Toluene takes it off. Alcohol or brake cleaner don't.

Then overlay with lettering that can be purchased from Ebay in original matched red, plus other colours. They are unaffected by heat and look even better than paint.

If you try and paint letters by hand, it will never ever look right.
