Steering rack replacement/refurb
Discussion
I recently noticed a small amount of play in my steering rack, on the near side drumstick. "No problem" I thought, I'll just buy a new steering rack; that was before I saw how much Caterham want for a new rack. Having just bought a new rack for my mk1 Escort, I was surprised to find out one for a xflow seven was about three times the price...Has anyone found an alternative source of steering racks, or can anyone recommend somebody to refurb my existing rack, based on their own experience?Pic of the car in question for attention:
Speak to Chris at Redline components. Sounds like play in the tie rod which are serviceable items available from Caterham or redline.
Alternatively, drill the locking pin out and tighten the nut holding the tie rod into the rack. Any sensible garage should be able to do that.
Depends where you live however for recommendations on Caterham specialists
