Kumho 185/70R13 V70A

Hi, am buying Kumho 185/70R13 V70A for the front of my caterham. Has anyone used them on caterhams before? What compound should I go for? Soft or Hard. Medium is not avaiable at the moment.

Mostly the car is getting used on the road. Thanks

Hard compound will be fine, in relation to a normal road tyre they are still a soft compound, they will just take a couple of miles to get up to temp.

I have Kumho tyres on my seven 215/50 R13 Rear 175/60 R13 Front

Superb in the dry but rather skitish in the wet. I'm considering moving over to CR500's

medium is the one to go for so maybe try camskill in the uk and get them shipped over.what sizes are you going to run all round? and how much power have you got?

I have been using Kumho's for a couple of years now and found them a really good tyre. They are certainly heavier than others but I think this transfers into good feedback.

Its also good as you can have a set for the road and set for the track with different compounds but the same characteristics.

I was recommended to call Mell Williams who is an official Kumho motorsport dealer. He now has a website for his contact details.

While they may be cheaper having raced on a set a couple of weeks back in the CSR they are horrible in terms of handling.

I used the Medium compound on the CSR racecar and lost them after 20 mins, so if you must, go for hard all round. You will need to set up the car again as they need some manipulation to get them to turn in like 500's. They are rubbish in the wet though unless you are dry use only i would re-think.

They produce ideal sizes for CSR on 13's but for 6" rims there are better options for a dry and wet imo.

Peter, i don't think so - after trying them i am very underwhelmed.

I have sorted a full wet tyre, which was easy enough CR28. Have some ideas on damp and dry, new rubber on the way, just need to get some track time sorted to back to back them.

What are you using on yours? - and how is Piero's handywork?

Piero is a top guy, gave me the engine he said he would, just need to learn how to use it!

Using Michelin Formula Renault slicks and wets in championship, wets did a great job yesterday

Might join you for a run out at Anglesey in June, providing you let me know what tyres to use
