Morning all,
I've been having intermittent fuel pump problems on my 2000 1.6 k 7, not priming or cutting out.
So far I've proved the pump works with a live feed (is the pump earthed locally or via the ecu)
The mfru works I've checked this at the grey engine connector below intake and at the mfru it self getting 12 v on the yellow green wire. ,
So this leaves the bits and wiring in between, inertia switch down and bridged in the circuit (can these corrode or rot internally)
Fuse box seems ok no visual worn wiring etc. On the loom
I also read ages ago on blatchat that there may be a joint within the loom on the yellow green wire?
I've checked all the above with the fault......then the car started normally!
I now a bit stumped....any pointers would be great!

Cheers in advance Mike

One of the cars had a similar fault on a tour of Scotland. We traced it back to a loose connection on the yellow/green (or green/yellow) wire as it entered the fuse box. It was the fuel pump feed. When messing round at the roadside under the dash, the wire would make a better connection and the car started. To fix it, the connections simply needed tightening in the fuse box. Might be an idea to give them a clean too and then crimp then again

Thanks for that will check...does the fuse box need to be removed from underneath of dash / is it easy to remove? (Not near the car at the moment)

Thanks again Mike

Yes, loosen the fuse box from the dash panel. It's held on with a few bolts and very easy to remove

Do you have an electrical kill switch? I'm not an expert on electrics but I had a similar problem and traced it to the kill switch which I replaced.

I had this problem and it was a fault with the MFRU - the unit that sits under the ecu.
