is there a set of covers/pads for the tillet seats? one of the cars im interested in has them and im not sure if im suited to the hard seat! how comfy are they as standard? cheers
They are made by Oxted and can be seen if you do a search on eBay. They do make a very slight difference having a bit if padding but the biggest benefit is to insulate you and getting a chilly backside! The air that passes under the fillet cools the seat and on a cold day, your backside starts to feel it. Having the pads also stops/hides the marks on the seat you get from bits of grit scratching them.BTW I find fillets a lot more comfortable than leather S types even on the long touring trips as they give better support all round

I removed the lardy seats and fitted tillets and find them much more comfortable! the soft ones give me back ache! I would try first.
Me too, 20 minutes in the leather seats was agony for me.I recently covered 1400 miles in 3 days with bare glass fibre Tillets without any discomfort

My 7 has Tillet seats, and I find them very comfortable, even on long trips (EDIT: defined by me as >250 miles in one day). A friend built his 7 (with Tillets) in Denver, Colorado, and then drove it to Los Angeles to visit with his son before hanging a right to head home to Anchorage, Alaska. The journey was just over 6,000 miles, all-in, and he had no complaints.
Of course, some people find them uncomfortable, even on short outings. Best to try 'em out first!

I did this and agree with Jeff. The leather seats were crippling me. I don't see the need for the Oxted pads as I find the tillets seats supremely comfortable and no point adding extra weight

All personal choices of course and I guess a lot of it is down to body shape.
thanks all. if everything goes well i should have my first caterhm (had 3 other kits), before the start of august. my cit has just sold to a guy in the south of france and a deposit has been taken.
keep an eye out for me please. budget circa £10k (posibly a tad more for the right one)

I have been looking at these, but where a bit surprised by how many different models there are.

Sevenspeed do some which are apparently better but I have not tried them.

Those are the ones I have too. I'm not too slim so I have taken off the carpet covering to make it easier to get in and out
Ok so original Caterham tilletts are a valid option then
I just got confused by the amount of different tillett seats: https://www.tillett.co.uk/shop/shopDisplayCategori...
I am not too slim either (and that is the very nice way of putting it, 108kg 183cm...or 15 stone 6 feet in old money), so I am trying to find some that I can fit

I've got the standard Oxted trimming ones on the standard Caterham tillets, and find them comfortable. They are easy to remove if you don't like them, and fetch strong prices second hand as they are (correctly in my view) seen as desirable. Certainly don't let them put you off a decent car!
I always thought the Tillet seats looked like an instrument of torture from the Spanish Inquisition - compared, at least, to my comfy leather items.
Then I parked my arse in a fellow Caterhamist's Superlight at a local meet (after asking politely, natch).
They are remarkably comfortable, and supportive in all the right places.
(I'm not saying I'd swap, but they are far more accommodating than they look.)

We used adhesive pads from these guys ...
