Any Caterham Blackbird or Fireblade for sale?

I`m a Caterham owner since 2004 (XFlow, different K-Series, BEC) and now a want a BEC again.

I have a fireblade, they are brilliant fun, the clutchless upshifts at 11500 rpm are addictive.

I think the gear lever on that one sits slightly rearward compared to mine which uses the normal gear lever hole in the transmission tunnel rather than the slot thats been put in that one.

Helo Frank, I think you bought my VVC Caterham several years ago (Monchengladbach)?

Anyway I now have a Hayabusa engined Caterham (originally built as a Blackbird) that I may be thinking of selling as I 'm getting a bit old for climbing in and out of a cage.

No, no chance of loosing it or any one stealing it, no one wants a penis pink car!

Sorry no pics of the engine bay and its under wraps in the garage which is full to the roof with king span and insulated plaster board. Suffice to say mr whiting did a very nice job when he built them.

I'm new to contributing this PH site but I had Googled 'Caterham Fireblade for sale' to see whats about as I am considering selling mine, and up popped your posting. It's a genuine JW blade and is the same colour as boy's(or should that be Pinkeyboy's), its SORN'd at the moment. Let me know if you are interested.

Why are you selling yours, they are brilliant fun. I'll admit they maybe a bit too frantic for the road though.

You are right they are brilliant cars and the best seven I have ever driven which include superlights, busa and crossflows, so light and nibble especially on track.

I would get another one if i ever get a seven again but I have too many cars and projects to get on with and need the space.

They appear to be getting rare as I have not seen one for sale for a nearly a year. I guess people are realising how good they are and remarkable value for money when considering like for like performance.

The steering has a great feel to it in these, more so than any other caterham.

They can be a little bit cluncky at slow speed due to the dog box. People say that BEC have no torque and this is true to a certain extent but mine will happilly tootle along and pull from 5th or 6th although thats not how you drive one of these, they need to have their necks rung.

Like you say they are a bargain when you consider the performance available v's the price, I think mine was 13,500 and had done 2500 miles when i bought it, i could never have bought an r300 for that.

I think it used to the terrify the chap i bought it off, not surprised, it i did me with the rock hard acb10's it had on making it drive horrible.

The only way I'll sell mine is by prising my dead fingers from around the steering wheel.
