advice on buying non cc parts for my 7
Discussion
hi all. i yesterday collected my 2007 hayabusa engine, with all ancillaries and runnig gear but need advice on a few things.
1; i need a complete exhaust system. i have the k series exhaust to sell and the hayabusa exhaust to sell.so where would you recommend i get a system from? was thinking of a standard r300 silencer which im watching on ebay, but header pipes will need making.
2; a complete gearshift system. im thinking stick shift over paddles but un decided yet. anywhere sell either?
3;need my current lsd modifying to a 3.38 so where can i get this done?
4;need a propshaft to suit ford diff to ab performance sprocket adaptor
tanks all. i will be taking the k series engine with all wiring, ecu, anti cav oil setup, clutch, flywheel out with gearbox, bellhousing, stack dash, propshaft etc so if anyone needs some bits let me know.cheers

If I was you I would go for a 3.14 diff, Ive had 4 busa powered 7"s and have run both 3.3 and 3.1 in busas and even with a 3.1 on fast circuits you can bounce of the limiter if you are running 13" rims.
If you want an off the shelf manifold Westfield do one for the megabusa, my last Busa was a 1550cc and I had a larger manifold custom made as I thought the standard one strangled it, from memory it cost me around £550 I forget the name of the place that made it but it was by a company close to Cadwell Park as i collected it on the way to the circuit.

1) Need to be a bit careful that the primaries fit through the chassis rails. A custom one from GoodFabs http://www.goodfabs.com/ would be a excellent choice. If you want new rather than s/h then a RaceCo titanium can is hard to beat.1; i need a complete exhaust system. i have the k series exhaust to sell and the hayabusa exhaust to sell.so where would you recommend i get a system from? was thinking of a standard r300 silencer which im watching on ebay, but header pipes will need making.

2) Not sure about "off the shelf" shift kits for a BECaterham. Maybe one of the LSIS manufactures would have something that could be made to fit, MK or the like. Unless you go electric paddle, you won't fit a mechanical paddle behind the wheel of a Caterham. I know, I tried !
4) Bailey Morris will custom build the prop. Worth getting them fit a TRT whilst they are at it. Need a two piece. The middle UJ can be interesting to fit as the Caterham tunnel is rather narrow. Whilst you are in there it may be worth thinking about some tunnel protection. Having a UJ a gnat's away from your thigh is somewhat concerning

Can't recall if the 'Busa needs a new clutch master cylinder ?
Assume you have found both Extreme Engines, and Holeshot sites. Both have lots of bits for a BEC Busa.
Have you seen http://www.meteormotorsport.com/hardware/meteor/pa... Simon Rogers has been running this system all year and is working with SBD.
He also does a complete install kit ready to go so you do not need to re engineer the whole installation.
I also think he is working on a new diff and reverse box installation.

That is quite expensive He also does a complete install kit ready to go so you do not need to re engineer the whole installation.

Pneumatic is the way to go with paddle-shift IMHO. Will be fitting something like that to mine when I have enough money !
p.s. Real Men don't need reversers. We push

Electronic but cheaper, unless you building the ultimate racing machine!:

Neil Wallace @ Geartronics is your man. Very knowledgable, helpul and offers a superb service. His GCU can be set to run in semi auto mode, i.e. upshifting at predetermined revs per gear, and auto-blipped downshifts at pre defined strategies (dependent upon gear, speed and engine revs).
Runs fully closed loop, unlike most of the other systems out there (other than mega expensive stuff from Pectel, etc).
Be very careful if you go for an open loop system, and do a considerable amount of research first. You could easily lunch your engine if the car is driven hard. The dogs in the box will also take a battering.

I've driven Simon's car from Meteor and it is Fully Closed loop system. Tried and tested on SBD cars including Steve Owen's (OMS) own hill climb cars. It has all the functions of the Geartronics and more.
Both are I believe high end systems for very good money. Simon told me he ultimately went for the SBD system because it could run integrated traction and launch control where as others needed a stand alone system.
Why not give them both a call and report back on the relative spec and merits of both.
