Recomend me a batery

OK, After spending many hours partially dismatling the webbers, throtle cable (taking off the cover of the pedals), coil etc etc. Much cursing etc etc.

Can anyone recomend a batery theat will fit without all of the above? I'm P****d of with having to do all of the above every few years. Yes, I know I should have fitted an Optimate (other brands are available) but I diddn't. I have one now.

So any advice is welcomed. It's a 1994 1700 Super Sprintwith the battery underneath the Webers. The 7 is not used regularly so it's not as if I'm starting it every day.

Can you not relocate the battery?

When I bought my '93 Supersprint in '99 one of the first things I did was to move the battery tray to the top of the passsenger footwell. Until last year I stayed with the Banner batteries and kept them on charge via a battery conditioner. They both lasted 6 years. However, I now have one of these. So far no problems and as it's a sealed lead acid battery I can still use the same conditioner. Also I needed to modify the Banner battery tray with the end result looking like this...

I have thouht about moving the battery but I have a heater (I know I'm soft but SWMBO won't go out in winter without it) so thought a smaller one fitted into the existing space might be an option.

What do the racers fit?

When I had a Xflow 7 with the battery under the webers (a long time ago!), I could get the battery out by gently manoeuvring it under the car when it was jacked up. The only faff I can remember having was if I wanted to fit some jump leads and then it was a real pain. Much easier to relocate above the passenger footwell if possible

I went from a Banner to Powervamp and moved it from the passenger footwell to middle of the bulkhead. I cut the original tray formed it around the batter and riveted it together, it worked out great. Loads lighter and doesn't seem to lack cranking power. Give Ed a call at www.powervampracing.com he'll give you club discount.

At £32, it's almost a disposable service item! Mine's not let me down in 3 years though, even after teh oddessey did....

There are loads of options for batteries but I went with Powervamp due to a large number of recommendations at the time. Good price though and if its been reliable in daily use on a road car its a bit of a steal at that price.
