The lower pipe in this picture is not blocked, there isn't anything that is obviously missing from it that I can see but its odd to have it open, Is everyone else's like this? (1.6 K series 1999 build)

its located away from the throttle body

Also;
Can anyone advise or give me a link to a good guide to remove the fuel tank?
&
Has anyone changed the rear lights for any alternatives or is that frowned upon? smile

Thanks

That should be blocked

Fuel tank; is fiddly but once you get the boot floor out it's fairly obvious. Boot floor can also be fiddly. The important thing to remember is that it doesn't need to be forced out !!

The tank itself can be removed from the bottom

Thanks for the reply, should the pipe be blocked with a blank or connected to something else? (if so what)
Anyone got a comparable pic, when I looked online I could only find a pic of a rover engines bay where the pipe connecting there appeared to go through the dash somewhere

Not frowned upon no, but I personally feel if you are going to change them, fit the clear lens Superlight kit. It tidies up the rear nicely and looks nice and modern whilst still being OEM. See here.
