Hi all,

Well I've decided I want to take my R500 down to my place in Spain for a few months and enjoy spring on some of the stunning roads around here. Challenge is current insurers will only do 30 days at a time.

Does anyone know who will insure a Caterham for a longer stay out of the UK? Not looking to keep it full time down here like some of the dodgy UK plated cars around, just not have to run it back and forth just for insurance.

Let me know if anyone else has managed to sort this?

Talk to Hagerty Classic Car insurance. They will do 6 months in the Eu, for a 50% more on top of your existing premium.

If it's not very new, try Hagerty. They were happy to insure my TR6 for six months while it was in Portugal.

Thanks all, my 355 is with Hagerty, will give them a try. Hadn't considered them as its a 2009 R500 but sounds worth a call.

Worth trying Andrew Copeland. They do a specific Euro (green card) insurance.

Well Hagerty and Copeland both can't offer cover, Hagerty the car isn't old enough and Copeland due to it being worth more than £25k.

So if anyone else has any suggestions I'd be very grateful!

Dunno about Spain, but the French insurers will insure a UK registered car for 6mths, after which it has to be registered in the country, so perhaps if you ask the Spanish insurers?

Try giving Jan at Stuart Collins a buzz www.stuartcollins.com. They seem to specialise in annual European cover for various cars via an AXA policy.
