Am I going to need a new seat?

I was checking over the car last night since it's got it's MOT next week, decided to get the seats out and give them a good clean (and refurb a few areas).
However, I noticed the frame has broken on the driver's side, right at the back before the upright. Anyone had this happen? Do you think it's possible to weld a repair or am I going to have to cough up £400 for a new seat from Caterham?

Happened on both sides of my drivers and one side on the passengers! I had them welded. I gave them the runners as a guide and they're as good as new now.
I think it's possible due to the fact people seem to drop into the seats which doesn't help.

Yeah, it's still at QMech at the moment! Andy seemed pretty confident it wouldn't be a problem. Fair play to him, I was really impressed, he's checked the whole car over and found a couple of things I didn't notice! It's been there the past week and he's given me a call to update me every few days. Hopefully I'll hear from him tomorrow about collecting it!

Good news Andy! My car is on Sorn over the winter so I may see if He can sort Mine before 7 goes back on the road! last time I drove it was end of September! So Im really itching to get out in it! I put it up on stands yesterday ready for some chassis painting.....joy....not!!!Picking the car back up on Saturday and I can't wait. I've been having withdrawal symptoms and badly need to drive it!

Definately worth a visit!
He's got three Elise S1's in at the moment, all in for various work, the one has been taken apart completely got an engine conversion!
Got the Caterham back yesterday - feels like a new car. It's much better on idle, the seats are all fixed, he's loosened up the anti-roll bars (it was on it's stiffest setting) and it feels a lot better as a result. He's also adjusted the pedals for me and it's made it a LOT easier to drive.
Very happy, and not as expensive as I was expecting either. Any South Wales Caterham or Lotus owners (or VX220) I can definitely recommend him! He knows his stuff!
