I've a 1999 car with a mechanical speedometer, the original Caterham item.
While driving up to Caterham's show room last Sunday for their last hurrah, I pulled onto the road from some services and I noticed that the speedo wasn't keeping up with my speed. This is to say that it was moving but very delayed in operation.

Now I'm told that it has stopped working all together.

Would this be the speedo drive from the gearbox at fault?

It's possible the 90degree converter/attachment gizmo has become full of debris and has frozen up and the pin has snapped. Easy as to remove and check, I always carry a few spare puns as TADTS ...

I'm impressed. A chap who carries spare puns is obviously well prepared for everything biggrin

I was going to update this. Upon getting in the car first time you start it up, the speedo appears to work. It's only sometime into the trip when it seems to then fail or get slow. Not had time to check the speedo drive yet though as I had a busy weekend, but I'll update once checked.
