Spa Mirrors now in bin - what do I need

I bought a set of the SPA wing mirrors to mount on the rollcage of my race caterham. What a piece of absolute junk. Despite fitting new mounts they still flop all over the place. The plastic bolt that is supposed to tighten them up is useless. How do companies survive selling this type of junk. I have lobbed them in the bin...

Anybody know of a better solution....

Use emery paper on the ball to roughen it up , this gives the locking screw something to bite in to

Do you have experience of abrasives used on your balls then Dave? Bit of an acquired taste I presume?

35mm exhaust clamp fits the cage bogut a cheep caravan mirror cut of the extension arm and drilled 2 holes in the bracket

This worked for me but it'll depend on your cage. Two stainless steel p clips with the Caterham carbon SPA mirrors. The clips are at a slight angle to each other so quite rigid and no issues with vibration or coming loose.

Am I right in thinking that the caterham carbon mirrors are the spa mirrors? If not they look extremely similar...?

I've had Racetech mirrors on mine for a while. Don't look dissimilar. Cheap. Work OK but not the last word (nothing that size can be, but bigger mirrors look cack ).

We've run Spa mirrors for years, and with a suitable mount they're fine. They are a bit cheap and nasty, but perfectly serviceable. This plastic bolt is new to me though - where is that?

My Formula SPA mirror on my driver's side has now given up the ghost (after over 10 years of use). I have just dismantled it to see if I can get a replacement screw and ball (no idea of the technical terms) but mine are metal rather than plastic.

Well I have just spoken tio a very nice man called Steve at SPA design and he says the grub screw and ball stud are still aluminium. He is sending me out replacement parts tonight
