Disc pads and wheel studs.
Discussion
While finding out what the squeak was coming from my front left wheel today, I noticed that one of the wheel studs is shagged.
I measured the length of studding protruding from the hub which is 22mm. I stupidly didn't measure the total length which would have included the section threaded into the hub! I'm assuming they're 32mm studs. A search on Blatchat suggests that there was some panic from a few members about why Caterham had upsized to 40mm long studs and they were left with the old 32mm versions. If 32mm studs are fine, which they have been for me for the last 4 years, and the car for 14 years, then I'm happy to keep the 32mm studs and just to replace the borked one.
I think I've discovered that these are a Ford item. Any idea to know what to ask for?
Also, the reason why I took the wheel off was to discover what was causing the squeak. I've noticed that one of my pads has split in half, so I need to replace these. Best to replace both sets (both wheels) at the front, or is just replacing the one set an okay practice?
I believe that I have Mintex pads on the rear. Similar for the front, or is there a better option around?
1999 VVC car, Standard Caterham brakes. De Dion car. Ummm, any other infomation, just holla.
Many thanks.
