Today I took my Caterham for its first ever track-day, MSV event Brands hatch evening, couldn't wait, looking forward to it so much, got there about an hour early, first to sign on, first to noise test " sorry mate, your cars too noisy, we've got a 98 decibel limit, your car is at 106.8!!!!" So £125 down, I now need a new exhaust, any suggestions? The car is a 1700 crossflow.
Bugger.

Should've checked on here first.

Crossflows are notoriously noisy. I know from bitter experience. I had to forego a track day at Goodwood for the same reason many years ago.

You'll probably find that there is no packing left in the silencer, especially if it is the standard Caterham one. I have an 1800 x/flow and had the same problem. I now have a Raceco re-packable silencer and can meet most track requirements - it is around 97dB depending on who measures and when etc... Ammo who runs Raceco was on about giving up the business earlier this year, but I've also heard good things about BTB silencers.
I now pack mine with Acoustafil (sp?) and it seems to be a good product.
Hope that helps.

or powerspeed in Ashford kent.....they make very nice silencers or complete systems.....my tweaked zetec is normally around 96 and standard zetecs with their 6 inch can come in around 92/93.

I can vouch for powerspeed in ashford, they did the exhaust on my Ginetta afew years ago. In regards for brandshatch I've been and got 97db and not had any problems, must just be one of their rulings.
I would highly recommend using performance trackdays / mazda on track.
