Replacing a Roll Cage with Roll Bar

Sorry for the numpty question.
My K series Superlight has a full cage fitted and as I primarily use it on the road I was wanting to change to a FIA roll bar. This is mainly due to the fact I have to wear a helmet or run the risk of smashing my head on the cage with the current setup - I don't have hardly any clearance being on the tall side.
The cage (possibly an acadamy type) looks like its relatively simple to remove with the exception of the point at which it's connected above the struts. Does the car need to be off its wheels and the struts removed or do the bolts at the top of the struts release the cage and the roll bar is fitted in its place?

you will need to remove the rear wheels and the rear suspension to access the thin headed bolts that are standing vertical into the cage legs. Be careful undoing these bolts as they have a reduced head depth and its ever so easy to round the edges if they are corroded into place. Angle grind a socket flat so that it has no internal chamfered edges and will give the best purchase possible. If you think its really stuboorn and have used some plus gas penetrating oil, I have used a trolley jack and piece of wood under the socket wrench to increase the grip of the socket and this has never failed to remove one!
