Has anyone fitted the stripe kit from 7 speed? If so did you cut the backing/fronting on the centre stripe to seperate the two stripes to line them up around the nosecone badge and heater vents. Any tips would be great as I hate finding a better way to do something after the event.

Yeah I fitted one.

Best advice is to fit them wet with some water and a little fairy liquid. Gives you several minutes to places the properly and you end up with a good finish. Make sure you get some squeegees to apply them and you'll be laughing.

Can't say we ran into any major snags really, could have done with a better stanley knife as ended up with a few rough edges!

I'd cut them and apply separately. I and my other half did a side each at the same time so we could line them up properly - better than doing one side and them realising that it's going to be wrong!

Ok I posted a question on blatchat but everyone must be out blatting so I'll double up on here. After spraying and removing the backing, I line up the stripe and squeegee down also playing the heat gun to help around the egdes. Do I leave the "fronting" on the stripe until stripe has stuck, say 1 hour or whatever. Or do I remove "fronting" and squeegee. Problem is decal tries to lift with "fronting" and needs squeegeeing back down. The side stripes are going to look terrible if they lift so does the "fronting" come off much later.

thanks

I didn't bother with a heat gun or anything. You'll have to remove the fronting otherwise you're not going to see the bubbles in the vinyl as you squeegee them out.

I'm no expert at it mind you, but I'm happy with the job we did on yours. There are loads of tutorials on youtube, that's where I looked!

Thanks for the reply, I think I initially used too much spray. I used a smaller spray and the backing came off without lifting the decal. Rear was a bit fiddly with poppers and the spare wheel location (which is now covered with a badge) to negotiate but all in all not a bad result. Will do the side stripes in the week. Should be it then for the summer upgrades. Winter upgrade is engine and i'm much more confident with the oily bits.
