What is an SV R ?

Hi All,

Might be a stupid question but what is the SVR ? Is it a superlight or something different, and are they any good ?

I have been in the hunt for a R400 SV for a while but can't seem to find one for sale, so wondering if this could be a good alternative. Its for sale at Caterham Midlands..17K miles and £20,495.

To be honest I don't recall there being an official model called SV R. This looks like a reasonably well upgraded Roadsport SV to me and 'R' might just be because it has a similar engine to the Superlight R? It isn't a Superlight (no carbon for starters) but 6 speed, LSD, big brakes make it a nice spec. Looks like it could do with a decent clean inside though.

Mines badged 'Supersnot R' but that's not an official model either

Thanks for the info. I agree, I dont understand why people (especially Caterham) would advertise a car without giving it a proper clean.

There are so many names and letters now that it's pretty confusing and Caterham have obviously enlisted the help of a creative name maker-upper to help name the used cars for sale.

The SVR was the development name for what became the CSR - thee main difference was the suspension setup; see this article
