Power rating

How do Caterham rate their cars. Ie is an R400 200 brake at the wheels or the flywheel. If the latter what is the flywheel rating. Presumably power at the wheels will be affected by tyre choice , wheel weight etc.

Loosely speaking the 300/400/500 etc are bhp per tonne. So a lighter k series engine produces less power than the heavier duratec for the same rating of bhp/tonne

And also re read your post. Powe figures quoted are always flywheel. You could probably take the ratings with a pinch of salt.

It is 210BHP at the flywheel and 525KG (dry ?) weight - 210/.525 = 400. On the dyno, my standard wet sump R400 (with plenum) made just over 180 WHP which we calculated to be around 207BHP at the flywheel.
