Not sure if it had been show before, but this is what never quite made it to production from the Renault Alpine team up.

Rather nondescript. Looks like it could have been a new Ford Puma.

The Alpine is more distinctive, but I think the Caterham looks better - but doesn't really say Caterham.

Exactly. There is a typical Alpine 'face', which I don't happen to like. Caterham needed to build up an identity.

I had assumed that the project was now dead in the water, but perhaps not, if http://www.themotorreport.com.au/63958/renaults-al... is to be believed.

I've just seen these images for the first time today. That looks like such a pretty car. Not ground breaking, but it's a great design that could easily have been put to into production ready (unlike the usual concept car ideas).
I'll admit it doesn't shout 'Cateham', but that's no supprise. Apart from the largely forgotten 21, the aesthetics of their product has been more or less frozen for several decades. I like the Seven, but they were never going to put vast sums into building a future that harks back to the 1950s. (Jaguar tried that.)

It would have been a great alternative to the Alpine and the Alfa 4C.

C'est la vie.
