2007 S3 G/Box 5 Speed Identification

My S3 is fitted with a 1.6 K Series engine recently the gear lever has become less positive (a lot of play in neutral or in gear)
If it’s fitted with the Ford gearbox my suspicion would be the saddle plate how do I identify weather it’s a Mazda or Ford gear box.TIA
