hello people . i got a sigma engined mazda 5 speed gearbox setup in my 310r . now theres a little leak from the bell housing , oil comes out on the engine side of the bell house but i can smell its gearbox oil . so in winter i have that taken care off . my question is , does the gearbox needs to be openend to replace the seal thats leaking ? how many mechanic hours is this job , like a few or a few days ?

To get the box out takes a few hours, then you need to get it serviced. If you were in the south of England (or even Portugal) I’d recommend Road & Race transmissions, however, I don’t know if the do it by post…

im getting this done by the caterham dealer in my country but was wondering how big of a invoice i can expect .

Depends what’s broken… Then the labour rate.

I’d assume 3hrs to get the engine out and 3hrs to put it back. I’d guess a gearbox rebuild (in the UK) would be £350+, then depends on the parts (I heard that the bits in a Mazda box are more expensive than in a Ford box).
