Repairing roof rack trim - Astra mk5 (h)

Has anyone tried replacing the roof rack trim on an Astra before? Any advice on what to get and how to go about the repair please?

It just seems to be going quite flaky and brittle, not sure if this is common in Astra’s?

This piece of roof trim can be removed, plenty of YouTube videos showing how to's. Would be best bet, to sand and paint them properly.
