Almost 27 years ago since I picked this game up. It was, indeed, unreal at the time.

The opening sequence with the camera flying around the castle was a thing of beauty - especially on some Voodoo2 3DFX cards in sli.

I had to have this survivor. I might even frame it wink

Does anyone else share the same memories ?

I did too, many happy memories of playing that and not having to play online against other people to have fun. It was a simpler time!

I bought Unreal by accident having meant to buy Half Life instead (how I did this I have no idea) but ended up having one of the best gaming experiences in memory; I then went on to have even more memorable experience with Half Life. Bought Unreal Tournament when it came out, but my parent's internet connection at the time was horrendous (rural Scotland dial-up, lol) so I only ever played against the bots - was still really good fun. Got my ass handed to me the first time I tried to play online against real people!

Great game , fond memories, especially as you mentioned 'The opening sequence with the camera flying around the castle was a thing of beauty - especially on some Voodoo2 3DFX cards in sli.' That intro was my goto for testing any new performance gains I made by hacking bios/drivers/hardware...

Amazing how far we've come , although I'd say not in gameplay, just visuals ;-)

As a Mac user I had the Marathon games. Then Bungie moved on and made something called (checks notes)... Halo, never heard from them again after that, shame. hehe

Played through the game a couple of times, but really put countless hours into the multiplayer version (NOT Unreal Tournament, that came later).

I wish my twitch play was as fast now as it was by time I'd spent thousands of hours grinding the hardest level bots on Facing Worlds in UT. The constant spamming of "Mmmmmmmonster Killl" was part of the sound track of my youth. I was very lucky and had an Intel DX100 with a pair of Voodoo2 in SLI, one I bought full price from the Components section of PC World and the other was second hand off a mate who was going over to Consoles. I have never again had such a bleeding edge gaming rig as the one I built back in that summer. Great times.

I got it running on the foldable phone recently for nostalgia reasons. My reactions are far too slow these days.
