Forza 2 - Wheel vs Controller?

I think people using the controller can drive a bit closer to the ragged edge as it’s a lot quicker to make a correction with the flick of a thump stick vs twirling the wheel.
However for me using the wheel really makes the game. Being able to feel the weight transfer of the car and sense friction available to the front tires is sooo immersive. If I’m ultimately a bit slower, well I’m happy to live with that. Not that the form of controller is the limiting factor in my lap times……

Even though i often never bother to set it up, i prefer a wheel with things like
rfactor and GTL etc on the PC.
Due to this, i grabbed a racing seat and the MS wheel for forza 2 but have used it for about
15 minutes so far!
I can get used to a PC wheel in no time at all but the MS wheel + Forza 2 made it
feel like i was learning to drive for the very first time.
No doubt with more commitment it would be better, but i have been having too much
fun on the pad to bother so far.
Imho the control system on forza 1 on a pad was just horrid, on F2 however it's superb.
I use no assists at all on any car no matter how powerful, be they FWD, RWD or 4WD and
i really enjoy driving them and controling them quite well with the pad.

Two thumbs up for the wheel from me.
I played for a day with the controller, and struggled - with steering, throttle and brake it was too easy to use the controller 'digitally' and the limited travel made fine control tough.
The wheel/pedal set lets me take advantage of the fact that I know to *drive* in an analog fashion. And while I've not analysed it intellectually, the force feedback gives a sense of when the grip is at the limit which I reacted to instinctively - though I have spent some time both on drift school days and on track, including a few unintentional spins.
But for anyone with any track experience I highly recommend the wheel, it makes the game far more immersive, fun, and lets you use some of the skillset you've built up in the real world.
